This piece is part of a series I'll be developing over the next 6 months, looking at the effects of climate change, with a particular focus on Australia.
Gang-Gang Cockatoos are an iconic bird in much of Australia,
including where I grew up near Canberra, Australia.
In the last 21 years, the total population of Gang-Gangs has dropped by about 70%, largely due to habitat destruction - with the biggest drop occurring during the 2019/2020 bushfire season.

They are now considered a vulnerable species.
This image is a photographic manipulation created from images of burnt and dried leaves, as well as images of leaves burning in a fireplace.
